REBA’S “STRANGE” IS FASTEST-RISING SOLO SINGLE OF CAREER
New Single is Biggest Chart-Jumper of the Week on USA Today/Country Aircheck
LEAPS INTO TOP 30 ON BILLBOARD/RR NASHVILLE, TN – There’s nothing strange about the success of superstar entertainer Reba McEntire’s newest single.
“Strange,” Reba’s lead single from her upcoming Valory Music Co. debut, is the fastest-rising solo single of her 33-year career of charting songs on Billboard’s Top Country Songs Chart. The single skyrocketed into the Top 30 this week, jumping 11 positions from #39 to #28, in only it’s second week at Country radio.
In addition, “Strange,” was the biggest chart-jumper of the week on the USA Today/ Country Aircheck chart (powered by Mediabase). The single leapt 14 positions, rising from #45 to #31.
The sassy, tongue-in-cheek rocker hit the Country airwaves last week, becoming Reba’s highest solo chart debut of her career.
“Strange” is the lead single from Reba’s first solo studio album in six years, as well as her first album on her new label The Valory Music Co. Reba’s new studio album will follow in late summer. Last Sunday, Reba was a presenter at the 7th Annual TV Land Awards from the Universal Amphitheater in LA. While at the awards, Reba hobnobbed with stars Matthew McConaughey, Don Rickles and Amy Poehler. Reba was also thrilled to meet comedian and FunnyorDie.com purveyor Will Ferrell for the first time, who had jokingly transformed his pop-culture website into RebaOrDie.com on April Fool’s Day in tribute to the Country music icon. The popular hipster destination showcased photos and video clips throughout the superstar entertainer’s long career, prompting Reba to laughingly quip, “I was the original ‘wardrobe malfunction!!!!’ “ The 7th Annual TV Land Awards will air this Sunday, April 26 at 8 pm ET/ 7 pm CT on TV Land.
The superstar entertainer signed with The Valory Music Co. in November 2008. The move reunited the multimedia entertainer with industry leader Scott Borchetta, now President & CEO of Big Machine Records and sister label The Valory Music Co.
